West Ham United: Darren Bent shares ‘funny’ David Moyes twist that may happen at London Stadium
Darren Bent has shared what he would consider to be a “funny” development regarding David Moyes at West Ham.
West Ham fans have been split with regards to the future of Moyes, who is out of contract in the summer but has been offered fresh terms.
Moyes silenced many of his doubters by guiding the Irons into the quarter-finals of the Europa League again on Thursday (14 March).
Speaking on talkSPORT Drive [15 March, 4:16pm], Bent said: “You’ll get some West Ham fans who will be like ‘thanks for everything, we appreciate everything you’ve done, but it’s time [to leave].’
“The decision they have to make – and this is where it’s quite funny – is if they win the Europa League, they’ll be in the Champions League.
“A lot of them would like David Moyes to say ‘thank you, I’ve served my time, away I go’. The fact they’re in the Champions League, he’s not going nowhere.”
Co-host Andy Goldstein added: “Nowhere, in a millions a years, would he leave that club.”
West Ham to meet Bayer Leverkusen in Europa League quarter-finals
In the view of many, Moyes should have bowed out on the back of lifting the Europa Conference League trophy last summer.
Many more agreed with that sentiment when West Ham went through a rough patch not so long ago.
However, results in the league have picked up slightly of late and United are now seventh in the table.
Arguably more impressively, however, is that they are through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where Bayer Leverkusen await.
It is on that basis that Moyes has earned the right to stay at the helm and decide on his own future.

Lifting a second successive European trophy may have provided the Scotsman with the dream scenario to bow out.
However, there is no chance he would then say no to guiding the Irons into the Champions League next season.
And let’s face it, if Moyes was to achieve that, there would surely be nobody who would begrudge him the opportunity to do so.
In other West Ham news, a FIFA agent has slammed an “absolutely ridiculous” development following the Irons’ win over Freiburg.
