Darren Ambrose claims West Ham can win the Europa League

Darren Ambrose has claimed on talkSPORT that West Ham can win the Europa League trophy this season.

The Hammers won 3-0 against Genk in their Europa League group game clash on Thursday, and they are in a strong position to progress through to the next round.

Goals from Craig Dawson, Issa Diop and Jarrod Bowen earned a fantastic victory for David Moyes’ side who have now picked up three wins in a row in the competition.

The Hammers find themselves six points clear at the top of Group H, and another win in their next match will see them emerge as group winners with two games to spare.

Ambrose has suggested that it’s a massive achievement for West Ham to be playing in this competition in the first place, considering where they were a couple of years ago.

He has suggested that they’ve got a “big chance” of winning this competition, provided if they keep playing in the same manner as they did last night.

“To even be in the Europa League is a massive achievement for West Ham considering where they were a few years ago,” said Ambrose on talkSPORT.

“Now they have got a fantastic start, three in three, in the Europa League. They have a big chance of winning this tournament if they continue to play in the way they played last night.”

Too early

West Ham should not get carried away despite making a fantastic start to the competition.

The Hammers should focus on winning their next game and qualify for the next round. In that way, Moyes can rest all his key players for the final two games, and prepare properly for the knock-out rounds.

There’s no doubt that West Ham are capable of beating any teams in the world on their day, but their lack of experience in Europe could be a big hindrance.

It will be interesting to see how they approach the two-legged knock-out ties. Also, there are some strong teams in this competition like Napoli, Lyon, Monaco, and Bayer Leverkusen, and they will be aiming to win the competition and book a place for next season’s Champions League.

Moyes has done a remarkable job at West Ham, and it would be a gigantic achievement if he can guide them to Europa League glory this season.

In other West Ham news, Jack Wilshere has predicted major Hammers exit, but reckons one goal would stop it.
