Danny Murphy believes Declan Rice is the complete package

West Ham United ace Declan Rice called the shots as his side bagged a 1-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The England international midfielder, 22, was in fine form again against the Toffees, and his suitors would have loved what they saw.

Danny Murphy was thrilled by Rice’s excellent performance, and while he insisted he is not trying to drum up interest in him, the pundit is certain the Hammers star will be tearing it up playing alongside Chelsea or Liverpool midfielders.

He said on BBC Match of the Day 2 (via their official Twitter account): “The best midfielders I ever played with and against could defend, they could get forward and score a goal.

“When you think of the likes of Roy Keane, Paul Ince Steven Gerrard, Patrick Vieira, they could do both.

“He’s brilliant in that defensive role, but can you imagine him, no disrespect to West Ham, if he was alongside say a (N’Golo) Kante type of player. Fabinho, and where he had the licence because he had someone else sitting for him. Soucek is more of the attacking.

“I’m not trying to sell him West Ham fans, but right now, he’s so important to them and is going to go on to bigger and better things because he’s such a wonderful player.”

Exciting summer ahead

It is becoming increasingly hard to see how exactly West Ham can hold on to Rice for much longer given the outstanding displays he is putting on every weekend.

Everyone is running out of adjectives to describe the midfielder, and he was completely breathtaking against Everton, controlling the game and making his side tick.

His valuation is definitely increasing daily, and while suitors were put off by the Hammers’ £100million asking price in the summer, the fee could start to look like a bargain in some months from now.

The top clubs know he is capable of even making them better, and the queue for his signature would have gotten longer next summer.

West Ham would love to hold on to Rice, but they need to be offering Champions League football and major silverware to have a chance.

In other West Ham news, Jack Wilshere has predicted major Hammers exit, but reckons one goal would stop it.
