Coufal expected to make West Ham return v Tottenham Hotspur

Vladimir Coufal is expected to make his return for West Ham in their next Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur, according to Jim Proudfoot.

The Czech Republic international was not ruled out by David Moyes for the Everton game, but did not start, with the boss opting for Ben Johnson.

It’s understood that Coufal will not be available on Thursday against Genk as well, but will be back next Sunday vs Spurs.

West Ham

Speaking on the world feed during the Everton clash on Sunday, Jim Proudfoot, a Sky Sports commentator, said, “Coufal is a minor one. Speaking to West Ham, they’re hopeful he’ll be back in a week. Should be available for the game against Spurs.”

Great news

There was no faulting Johnson for this one, even though he’s Moyes’ third-choice right-back.

He came under unwanted circumstances, and put in a very good performance, given the conditions.

There’s a very good chance that he retains his spot in the eleven against Genk, but Coufal coming in for the Spurs clash is what the Hammers need.

West Ham

The Czech international was one of the Hammers’ best players last season and arguably the best right-back in the Premier League.

He was a joy going forward and equally good with his defensive cover – rarely getting caught out of position.

Having him dealing with the likes of Son and Sergio Reguilon would give Moyes much more comfort than a 21-year-old and relatively inexperienced being asked to do that.
