Confirmed – Striker puts pen to paper on West Ham deal
West Ham starlet Amadou Diallo has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The Hammers made the announcement on Saturday morning via their official website.
The 17-year-old has been rewarded for an impressive start to the season for the Irons’ youth setup.
So far this term, the youngster has hit two goals in eight appearances for the U23s, and has highlighted his potential with a series of eye-catching display.
The striker joined West Ham as a 10-year-old, and has worked his way up through the ranks in east London – even netting on his U23s debut as a 15-year-old in December 2018.
Diallo captained the England U17s earlier this week, as well as hitting two goals in three outings of the Young Lions.
Is this a smart move from the Hammers?
Absolutely, unequivocally, without a doubt, yes.
The senior side may not be hitting the heights that they are expected to on the pitch, but it’s something of a relief to know that the club are still setting the standard when it comes to youth and young talent.
There’s absolutely no reason why Diallo can’t be a first team prospect in the next few years, and his record at youth level speaks for itself.
Time and patience will be key, as it always is with a prodigy like him, but this new contract should ensure that he is given both of those in abundance.
There’s absolutely no reason why he can’t kick on from here and become one to watch at the London Stadium.
