‘Come on’ – Sky Sports pundit stunned at what West Ham fans did to Declan Rice vs Arsenal

Declan Rice is not a well-received figure at West Ham United.

Rice left West Ham in the summer of 2023 for Arsenal for an initial £100million, with the potential of a further £5m in add-ons.

The deal for Rice didn’t go down well with West Ham fans, who have since booed the midfielder on multiple occasions whenever the Hammers take on the Gunners.

West Ham are taking on Arsenal in the Premier League, looking for a third successive win at the Emirates after a 1-0 victory last season, thanks to a Jarrod Bowen goal.

West Ham fans slammed for treatment of Declan Rice

The Hammers fans have clearly still not forgiven Rice for the move, as they have continued to give him stick during the first half of the Emirates match-up.

Rice has been booed and jeered any time he has touched the ball by the away end, as he has in previous seasons, but has gotten some payback by opening the scoring at the Emirates, before glancing at the Hammers faithful.

Clinton Morrison has been critical of the behaviour of the Hammers fans during the first half, suggesting that the midfielder’s performances at the London Stadium and the transfer fee received do not warrant abuse towards him.

Watching Arsenal vs West Ham for Soccer Saturday, Morrison said: “Arsenal get a free-kick and Declan Rice goes near the West Ham fans… am I right or wrong?

“Did Rice do ever so well and did West Ham get good money for him? Come on. It shouldn’t work like that.”

West Ham fans will never forgive Declan Rice for moving to Arsenal

Rice could have gone down as a Hammers legend for helping the club win the Europa Conference League in 2023, had he chosen to move elsewhere outside of London.

The fact that he moved to Arsenal of all places, however, tarnished his legacy with the West Ham faithful, especially when Manchester City were also interested in the midfielder back in 2023.

West Ham’s biggest rivals include:

The Hammers faithful hold a special resentment for their London rivals, especially the big sides such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Mohammed Kudus also made the traitorous move to leave the Hammers for a London rival in Tottenham, and he is facing the same treatment by fans of the East London side.

Rice will likely win multiple trophies at the Emirates that he could never win at the London Stadium, but the West Ham fans will never forgive him for making such a move in the first place.
