Claret and Hugh shares how long Michail Antonio could be out for after ‘bad’ West Ham United injury news emerges

West Ham forward Michail Antonio could be out for up to three months after picking an injury on international duty, according to Claret and Hugh.

The Hammers insider posted on its website on Sunday (19 November) that the Jamaican international suffered ligament damage while playing for his country in their 2-1 defeat against Canada on Saturday (18 November).

It said dependent on the grade of the injury, the 33-year-old could be out for between three weeks and three months, but that the injury is still to be “properly diagnosed”.

Concerning

This is extremely concerning news for all those associated with West Ham as Antonio could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines if his injury is deemed to be worst-case scenario.

That would leave the Hammers extremely short in the forward department, with Danny Ings struggling to find any form and Divin Mubama so far not being trusted by David Moyes to play any proper role in the first team.

Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have operated as false-nine options, but it’s pretty clear neither of those players are completely comfortable leading the line.

One of the most disappointing aspects of Antonio’s injury is that he actually played on for a further 15 minutes, potentially making the injury worse before being subbed off.

It will now be an anxious wait for Moyes and the medical staff to see how long the forward is expected to be out for on his return to the London Stadium.

In other West Ham news, a journalist has detailed how one Hammers forward has had a “significant” turnaround.
