Chris Sutton predicts result of West Ham United v Wolves Premier League clash

Chris Sutton has made his prediction ahead of the Premier League clash between West Ham and Wolves this weekend.

The Hammers earned a 1-1 draw with Tottenham in midweek while Wolves were held by relegation battling Burnley on the same day, leaving both sides pushing in the top half of the table.

And predicting the game for BBC Sport (5 April), Sutton admitted that while David Moyes’ side are in a good place ahead of their Europa League clash next week he doesn’t see them getting a win over Gary O’Neil’s side and went for another 1-1 draw.

“After snatching defeat from the jaws of victory at St James’ Park last weekend, West Ham responded well with a draw against Tottenham on Tuesday,” he wrote.

“I still maintain Hammers boss David Moyes has done a decent job this season, and they are in a pretty good place ahead of the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Bayer Leverkusen next week.

“I don’t think the Hammers will win this one, though. Wolves have been creaking a little bit because of injuries, especially up front, but they are at home and I fancy them to get something here.”

West Ham must build momentum

The defeat to Newcastle saw a lot of fans turn on the West Ham team because of the manner of the result, but the performance was strong.

The attackers were a constant threat and were clinical in front of goal, but when David Moyes took Michail Antonio off the team struggled and a dodgy penalty award turned the tide of the game.

But with a huge game in Europe in midweek before a London derby against Fulham to come, the team needs to start building momentum towards the end of the campaign.

A win over Wolves would be a real feather in the cap considering the form of both team so far this season, and would further cement the team’s push for a European place next season.

Wolves will have the home advantage and will be confident of getting a result against an inconsistent team, so it’s down to the Hammers to prove them and Sutton wrong.
