Chris Sutton predicts result of West Ham United clash v Everton for BBC Sport
Chris Sutton has predicted that West Ham United will extend their winless run to four matches in all competitions against Everton on Sunday 29 October.
The BBC Sport pundit believes that the Hammers will be unable to recover from their Europa League defeat to Olympiacos on Thursday night (26 October), with Sean Dyche’s side predicted to hold the Hammers to a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.
Everton have seen an upturn in performance in recent weeks, with the Toffees impressing defensively against Liverpool last time out and have shown in wins against Bournemouth and Brentford that they are more than capable of firing in front of goal.

Writing in his BBC Sport predictions (26 October) Sutton said: “I just have a sneaky feeling that Everton are going to get something, especially with Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit and looking sharp.
“Calvert-Lewin has obviously had a lot of injuries but I am not going to apologise for admiring him. Everton’s season depends on him, and he can definitely help them get a point here, for starters.
“West Ham are a well-balanced side and Everton fans will know very well how organised teams are under David Moyes, but I can see the Toffees scrapping this one out for a draw. 1-1.”
Return to form
West Ham have to get back to winning ways after what has been an incredibly disappointing week at the London Stadium, with the heavy defeat at the hands of Aston Villa in the Premier League quickly compounded by a terrible performance against Olympiakos.
Everton are by no means an easy side to play against and showed at Anfield that they have to be taken seriously, but they have also collapsed in defeats to Luton Town and Villa earlier in the campaign to show that David Moyes’ side should be able to get a result.

The likes of Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma will have to be at their best to contain the Toffees’ danger man Clavert-Lewin, with Sutton suggesting that the England international will be crucial not only to Sunday’s meeting between the two sides but also to Everton’s entire campaign.
Moyes has to get one over his former side at the London Stadium, especially if the Hammers have genuine ambitions of qualifying for Europe again this season. The other big six sides that have played the Toffees so far this season have won with relative ease and the Irons have to be aiming to do the same.
