Chris Sutton predicts result of Manchester City v West Ham United in Premier League title verdict

West Ham United will end the David Moyes era with a loss at the hands of Manchester City on Sunday (19 May), according to Chris Sutton.

The BBC Sport pundit admits that he feels sorry for the Scotsman but cannot see how the Irons will come away as winners at the Etihad Stadium, predicting Moyes’ Hammers will lose 5-0 and City will win the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side know that they simply have to win to get their hands on a fourth consecutive title and while Sutton has been quick to praise Moyes in the past, he has already written off a potential upset.

Writing in his BBC Sport Premier League predictions (16 May) he said: “Like most people, I am sick of them winning but you have to admire them because they are an absolute machine.

“Pep Guardiola seems to win every title in a different style, and his team never stops evolving. They are a remarkable group of players to keep going on these runs of results that take them to the title season after season.

“I know I am talking about them as if they have already won it but I don’t see any other outcome, because of how relentless they are, and their resilience, quality and mental strength.

“Well played to them, again. I just feel a bit sorry for West Ham boss David Moyes because this is his final game in charge and it could not be any more difficult.”

Will West Ham United beat Manchester City and help Arsenal win the Premier League?

West Ham may not have much to play for on Sunday, but those players will be desperate to ruffle a few feathers in the title race and give their manager the perfect send-off.

While a win would do very little to help the Hammers climb the table, there are plenty of players in the Hammers changing room who are playing for their futures under Julen Lopetegui ahead of next season.

The former Real Madrid manager will almost certainly be watching his future side in some capacity on Sunday and while he won’t make all his transfer calls based on one game, a poor display at the Etihad could spell the end for some stars.

Hopefully, Sutton will be wrong and Moyes will manage to pull off a massive upset. While most Irons fans won’t want to see Arsenal lift the Premier League, they could potentially be the king-makers.
