Chris Sutton predicts a six-year first for Bournemouth v West Ham United
West Ham United are set to face Bournemouth as they aim to get back to winning ways after a poor run of form.
Graham Potter’s side fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Wolves in their last outing, and have failed to win their last three games.
There is little to play for this season, with West Ham in 16th place in the Premier League but well clear of relegation, but the table is so tight that a few positive results could see the Hammers catch Manchester United in 13th.
Bournemouth are badly out of form heading into the clash at the London Stadium, but Andoni Iraola’s side have shown a lot of quality this season, and they have now been backed to win.

Sutton backs Bournemouth to win at West Ham
West Ham will host Bournemouth at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon, but despite not recording a single win against the Hammers in six years, the visitors have been backed to win.
“West Ham have struggled at home of late, losing three of their past four there, with their only win coming against Leicester,” pundit Sutton told the BBC (4 April).
Opposition | Results |
Crystal Palace | 0-2 defeat |
Brentford | 0-1 defeat |
Leicester | 2-0 win |
Newcastle | 0-1 defeat |
“Bournemouth’s form doesn’t suggest they will take the points either, but I am not sitting on the fence. 1-2.”
Bournemouth are winless in seven games, and have lost their last three in a row, but Sutton has still backed them to beat the Hammers.

West Ham’s strong record against Bournemouth
West Ham have not suffered a single defeat against Bournemouth since a 2-0 away defeat in January 2019.
They have met on eight occasions since, with West Ham recording four wins in that time, including a stunning 4-0 away victory in April 2023.
Three of the last four meetings between the two sides have ended 1-1, with West Ham’s last win over the Cherries coming in the Carabao Cup in August 2024.
West Ham’s last home defeat against Bournemouth came in August 2018, as goals from Callum Wilson and Steve Cook gave the visitors a 2-1 win.
Given Bournemouth’s current form, West Ham fans will be frustrated if their side ends such a long unbeaten streak against the Cherries at home, and will be hoping for an improved performance than what has been seen in recent weeks.
