Chris Sutton heaps praise on Declan Rice after goal v Hungary
Chris Sutton was in awe of West Ham midfielder Declan Rice after he scored from a long-ranged effort for England vs Hungary on Thursday.
The 22-year-old capped off a fantastic performance for the Three Lions with a goal in the second half.
He was fortunate as Hungarian keeper Peter Gulacsi let the ball in after Rice’s shot came straight at him, but Rice will take whatever he gets, and is now up to two goals for the national side.
Sutton, a pundit at the BBC, took to Twitter to share his instant reaction.
He wrote, “Declan Rice is an outstanding talent.”
What a player
Gareth Southgate has found an ideal holding midfielder in Rice and the fact that he’s still 22, suggests that he’s still got a long way to go before he peaks.
He already seems like a player with years of experience under his belt and has formed a seamless understanding with Kalvin Phillips.
The way Rice serves as an anchor man is second to none and due to his solidity in the middle of the park, the likes of Phillips, Mason Mount and even Jack Grealish are handed the licence to move forward.

Often, players tend to do well for their club and not their national side, or vice versa, but Rice is the same talent he is for West Ham as he is when he dons the white jersey for his country.
Each time he steps onto the field, he is like a breath of fresh air and we enjoy watching him play.
Hopefully, he extends his deal at West Ham and stays beyond the end of this season.
