Chris Sutton expects West Ham to make Premier League history again vs Bournemouth
Chris Sutton has predicted the result in West Ham against Bournemouth, and the Hammers will enter the history books for a third time if his verdict comes through.
The former Premier League striker has predicted the two sides to hold each other to a 1-1 draw at London Stadium, via BBC Sport.
Sutton believes the good form of the Hammers and the Cherries will mean it will be hard to separate the two on Saturday, stating: “West Ham are still in the bottom three, but they have shown they are up for the fight in the past few weeks.”
“It finished 2-2 when these two sides met on the south coast in November, and I can see the points being shared this time too.”
If Sutton’s verdict rings true, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will end up joining a historic club for the third time in Premier League history.
With their current league position, West Ham desperately need a strong result.

Why West Ham could make history vs Bournemouth
West Ham against Bournemouth is seemingly a tough tie for both sides, who can never really seem to get one over the other.
The last five meetings between the Irons and the Cherries have ended with the points shared. If the same outcome happens this weekend, and a sixth consecutive draw occurs, that would be a historic feat.
In the history of the Premier League, only three fixtures have ever resulted in a draw in six successive matches.
Interestingly, West Ham have been involved in two of those – Birmingham v Liverpool (7 between 2005-2010), Aston Villa v West Ham (7, 1998-2001) and Brighton v West Ham (6, 2019-2021).
Additionally, manager Nuno will be hoping to avoid that outcome and extend his lead in games against Bournemouth.

Who was the last winner in a West Ham vs Bournemouth game?
While the last five Premier League meetings have been draws, the Hammers have beaten the Cherries more than their opposition has beaten them in recent history.
In the 2024-2025 season, the E20 outfit came out as 1-0 winners in the Carabao Cup against the south coast side.
Meanwhile, before the run of draws, they bested Bournemouth in three consecutive games without conceding a goal.
- West Ham 4-0 Bournemouth – 1 January 2020
- West Ham 2-0 Bournemouth – 24 October 2022
- Bournemouth 0-4 West Ham – 23 April 2023
Additionally, in the history of English football, West Ham have only lost to Bournemouth four times in 23 meetings.
History is certainly on Nuno’s side, and hopefully the East London club can secure a much-needed three points for their survival hopes.
