Report: West Ham want to sign Tammy Abraham to replace Seb Haller
Chelsea and England international star Tammy Abraham is a target for West Ham as they look to replace Sebastian Haller.
The 23-year-old is Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season with 12 but has fallen down the pecking order under new boss Thomas Tuchel.
According to the Daily Star, Abraham is stalling on a new contract whilst the Blues express an interest in Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Chelsea’s number nine makes up a three-man shortlist with Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah and Ivan Toney of Brentford. Toney is the leading goalscorer in the Championship, bagging 25 times so far this season.
Fit’s the bill
It’s strange to see Abraham brushed aside but the new Chelsea boss. He didn’t even make the bench in the 0-0 draw with Manchester United.
The striker has scored goals wherever he’s been sent. He had two prolific spells in the championship with Bristol City and Aston Villa, scoring just shy of 50 goals between the separate loan moves.
Abraham will no doubt have a host of Premier League sides chasing him this summer, but we could be his best suitors.
There is no doubting we have a vacancy up top at the moment. The departure of Haller to Ajax is yet to be filled. Michail Antonio has done tremendously well up top, but is in desperate need of back up.
In the Moyes system, Abraham could shine. He’s a hard-working technical footballer who is very good in the air, everything the boss looks for in a frontman.
He could link up very well with Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen, Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma.
Our attackers play quick flowing football with lots of one and two touches, and love breaking on the counter. Abraham has the pace to lead this front line and has a proven ability to score goals.
Last season, he scored seven goals on his first five league games under Frank Lampard. This includes a hattrick away to Wolves. He is a confidence player who could do very well under Moyes. The boss has installed confidence throughout the squad since returning.
We are definitely looking more of an attractive place to come and play football, and if we qualify for Europe, Abraham could fancy the move.
In other West Ham news, Winston Reid is impressing on loan at Brentford.
