Chelsea legend John Terry has sent a message of support to West Ham captain Declan Rice after the Hammers secured a spot in the Europa Conference League semi-finals.

The East London outfit defeated Gent 4-1 in their second leg encounter at the London Stadium on Thursday (20 April).

The commanding victory, in which Rice scored a stunning solo goal, ensured a 5-2 aggregate win for the Hammers.

Superb night

After a nervy enough first leg draw in Belgium, things were looking bad for Rice and his teammates after Gent went 1-0 up in the 26th minute in the second leg.

But a commanding second half display from David Moyes’s men saw West Ham roar to a superb victory, with supporters in fine spirits as their players lived up to the big occasion.

The Hammers finally showed just how lethal they can be in the final third, having struggled throughout the season to really fulfil their attacking potential.

Even defensive midfielder Rice got in on the act, with the captain driving his side to an unforgettable win under the lights in East London.

Fans will now be dreaming of silverware this season with a European trophy, but Moyes will simply be hoping his players will be fresh enough for the huge Premier League trip to Bournemouth on Sunday (23 April).
