Celtic job may be hard to turn down for David Moyes in West Ham exit news

West Ham boss David Moyes could find it hard to turn down an approach from Celtic if Ange Postecoglou is lured to Tottenham Hotspur, according to Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterill.

He was speaking live from Rush Green on Friday morning at a media open day ahead of the Europa Conference League final in Prague on Wednesday.

Speculation on Moyes’ future is ongoing as his status at the London Stadium moving forward, has not been confirmed.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News [02 June, 8.24am], Cotterill added the Celtic factor into the equation.

“There is a year left on his deal and if no new offer is on the table, David Moyes could decide to leave with his head held high,” he said.

“There is also the prospect of Celtic losing their manager to Tottenham and Moyes now being linked as a potential replacement for him (Ange Postecoglou) at Celtic.

“That might be, as a Scotsman and former Celtic player, something hard to turn down.”

Position of strength

If West Ham triumphs against Fiorentina next week, it is difficult to see the club parting ways with their manager but his future is yet to be agreed.

Should Moyes return home as a winner, he will be in an even greater position of strength in terms of his status and reputation, even more than at present.

He will have plenty of offers on the table regardless, but the Celtic situation adds further intrigue if Postecoglou takes up an offer from Spurs.

The call on Moyes will be the last act of a huge season in east London, with talks expected after the showpiece European final. Club bosses will reflect on their good judgement to retain Moyes who led them to Premier League safety following a period of pressure.

For now, all the focus is on the club’s shot at glory and rightly so, as they seek to land their first major trophy since the FA Cup victory in 1980.
