Carlton Cole forced to apologise for appalling comment made during West Ham v Manchester City clash

Carlton Cole has been forced to apologise after he made an awful comment during live coverage of West Ham against Manchester City.

Speaking about the Hammers and how they could have dealt with Pep Guardiola’s side, the former Irons striker claimed that if you don’t give City respect, then it could be like the “Holocaust” [Daily Star].

Cole immediately apologised after the match, but comments like that have no place in football, and he should be deeply ashamed.

There are so many other things that he could have said, but this was not the right move, and we can’t imagine that it will be forgotten about any time soon.

Poor choice from Cole.

Pundits are heard by a lot of people all around the world, so they have to be careful with their choice of words.

Saying things like this is just unacceptable really, Cole can’t be saying things like this.

Of course, we believe it was a genuine mistake by the former Irons man, and he wasn’t trying to be offensive, but come on, man, have a bit of sense and don’t say that.

It will be interesting to see what happens to his off-field career now, as will broadcasters want to be associated with someone who said something like that?

It is too early to be speculating on what might or might not happen, but he certainly shouldn’t have said that, and there could be further consequences as he probably offended a lot of people even if he didn’t mean to.

In other West Ham news, Gold and Sullivan are set for huge losses after a recent off-field change.
