Carlos Soler admits what he doesn’t like about being with West Ham

West Ham United summer signing Carlos Soler has admitted that he doesn’t like how fast the sun goes down in England.

The Spain international joined the Hammers in the previous transfer window from Paris Saint-Germain, signing on loan on deadline day in August.

Speaking to the Mirror (29 November), the 27-year-old spoke about his time in East London and isn’t the biggest fan of the short days in the English winter.

He said: “I would love to play for Spain again. But my first target is giving my best here. I like London a lot but I don’t like that it gets dark so early! When I arrive home at 3:30pm, 3:45pm, it’s already nighttime. But it’s fun, it’s a lovely city and you can make what you want of it.”

Carlos Soler showed his class in Newcastle v West Ham United

Soler finally lived up to the hype that surrounded him following his move to West Ham in the summer against Newcastle on 25 November.

In the 2-0 win against the Magpies, the Spaniard showcased the technical abilities that he has shown elsewhere in his career.

The Spain international has had a torrid time in East London apart from his performance at St James’ Park, and he was handed only his second start in the Premier League campaign in the victory over Eddie Howe’s team.

Soler was a superstar back in Valencia, but his move to PSG hasn’t really worked out, and it might not have been the best of decisions by Tim Steidten to sign a player seemingly low on confidence.

The Spain international’s displays so far haven’t been convincing, but the London Stadium faithful will hope that the Newcastle game will be the start of something special for the 27-year-old at West Ham.

Julen Lopetegui needs to bring the best out of his compatriot, and the fixture against Arsenal will test whether Soler can maintain consistency.

It also remains to be seen whether the Irons will opt to extend his loan or sign him permanently next summer.

In other West Ham news, this Irons loanee was publicly called out by his manager after what he did.
