Callum Wilson made Premier League history after what he did for West Ham vs Bournemouth

Callum Wilson had a telling impact for West Ham in the draw against Bournemouth.

West Ham secured a point away to Bournemouth in what went on to be a frustrating result after throwing away a 2-0 lead.

Wilson put West Ham two up after 38 minutes as he doubled his London Stadium tally after scoring last time around against Burnley.

Things could have been different if Max Kilman had been sent off for handball against Bournemouth, though Nuno Espirito Santo won’t care.

The Portuguese head coach has come under pressure for his substitutions at the Vitality, especially for taking off Wilson after he made Premier League history.

The Englishman was excellent up front for the Hammers and played a key role in securing a point, although it probably should have been three.

He should have stayed on the pitch, but Nuno opted to bring the striker off alongside Luis Guilherme for West Ham at Bournemouth.

The tide changed after the 33-year-old’s exit, after what had been a superb showcase of finishing talent from the former Cherries star.

Wilson truly had little impact in the first half, aside from finding the net, to the point that he made Premier League history.

The West Ham striker is the first player in Premier League history, on record, to score two or more goals in the first half of a match without completing a single pass.

A record that strangely feels very West Ham.

Wilson did what West Ham needed vs Bournemouth

It is crazy to see a player find the net on two occasions, all while having such little impact on the ball against a difficult side away from home.

Wilson is arguably in the side to be a focal point for the Hammers and hold up play when needed, something Niclas Fullkrug has failed to do effectively in E20.

His English counterpart was unable to do so against the Cherries, failing to link up with a single teammate throughout the first 45 minutes.

Not only that, but he failed to complete a single pass across his entire south coast outing, maintaining a zero per cent success rate with his four attempts.

No one associated with the Irons will care about that statistic as long as he is finding the net, and he did exactly that against his former side on Saturday.
