BT Sport pundit Joleon Lescott predicts result of West Ham United Premier League clash v Tottenham Hotspur

Joleon Lescott believes Tottenham will do just enough to beat West Ham in their Premier League clash this weekend, with both teams needing a win.

The Hammers sit two points above the relegation zone before any games have been played this weekend, but are unbeaten in their last three games in a change of fortunes from recent months.

Spurs are battling to get back into the race for a top four position and need a win too, but former Manchester City and Everton defender Lescott told LiveScore (17 February) that he believes the home time will be able to claim the win although it may not be convincing.

West Ham

“Tottenham and West Ham tend to produce exciting games — Manuel Lanzini’s screamer in that 3-3 draw a few years ago was one of the best goals I’ve ever seen!” he said.

“Both need the points for differing reasons on this occasion and at home, I’d expect Spurs to just do enough.

“It may not be convincing but this could end up being a key result in their top-four bid.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 West Ham.”

Chance

This is a real chance for West Ham to kick-start their season after a really poor campaign so far and get pushing up the Premier League table, despite people picking against us.

The team is currently two points off the drop zone with 15 games remaining, including this weekend’s clash with Spurs, who are also struggling.

David Moyes’ side are on their best run of the season in the league in terms of results, and they will feel as though Spurs are there for the taking having been thumped by Leicester and AC Milan in their last two outings over the last week.

A victory over our rivals will not only boost our points tally and move us away from the relegation zone, but it will also rejuvenate fans to believe that we have turned a corner and help to unite everyone once again.

We saw how important that was last season as we pushed to a Europa League semi-final, and it could prove vital in a close season to get us up the table one again.
