BT Sport commentators stunned by what Craig Dawson and Said Benrahma did for West Ham v Lyon
Craig Dawson and Said Benrahma left BT Sport commentators Ian Darke and Lucy Ward stunned with what they did for West Ham against Lyon.
The Hammers had a tough first half against the Ligue 1 side in their Europa League quarter-final clash at the London Stadium, but there was a moment that blew the commentators away.
Dawson picked up the ball in his own half and launched a brilliant 60-yard pass towards Benrahma, who brought the ball down in his stride and went towards the Lyon goal. It was great skill, and left the commentators lost for superlatives.

“My goodness me, that was West Ham United,” said Darke.
“They nearly did it in one foul swoop with that long ball out of defence. It was a super run from Said Benrahma.”
“That was a terrific example, that run from Benrahma, how West Ham can switch it up from a lull,” Ward continued.
“That longer ball, a terrific ball with purpose from Craig Dawson. The touch was absolutely incredible.”
Quality
West Ham didn’t have the best of halves, with Lyon largely dominating possession, but they showed their quality with this move.
It shows just how quickly the team is capable of turning momentum in their favour, especially with the fans behind them in the stadium making noise.

Benrahma forced a good save from a tight angle in the end so you can’t ask for much more, but the Hammers should be looking to explore that avenue more considering the success they had.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen Dawson’s ability on the ball this season, while we all know what Benrahma is capable of because it convinced the club to spend £30m on him.
There is plenty of quality in this team, they now just need to show it more regularly and consistently in games of this magnitude to really step up to the next level.
