Bryan Robson raves about Declan Rice as £100m West Ham United transfer verdict shared

Bryan Robson has raved about West Ham captain Declan Rice, and believes the midfielder can play in a “more advanced” role.

The Hammers ace is enjoying another fine individual campaign amid huge Premier League struggles for his club overall.

And a price tag of £100million has been slapped on the 24-year-old ahead of a potential move, according to the Mail Online.

“West Ham have him reined in behind Soucek and I believe he can play more advanced,” Robson wrote for the Mail Online. “Is very careful with the ball.

“Norman Whiteside and I used to have competitions on who lost the ball the least and Rice would do well in that. Has great stamina.”

Noting that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all interested in Rice, the Mail Online added: “Arsenal are favourites after Manchester United tried with a bid last summer.”

Major move incoming

The major question issue Rice this summer is not if he will leave West Ham, but where he will go, with an exit looking increasingly likely.

Given his talent, his profile as an England international and as Hammers skipper, along with the clubs reportedly showing an interest, this looks set to be one of the most-followed and biggest deals of the summer transfer window.

And with a figure such as £100million mentioned, it will also be one of the most expensive transfers in English football history, simply adding to the excitement.

The young midfielder has proven his worth as a tough tackler and a ball-winner, but there is also a case to be made for his attacking threat given his ability to dribble with the ball and indeed his knack at popping up and scoring the odd important goal.

It remains uncertain if Liverpool will have the guts to fork out such a huge fee to acquire his services, with Chelsea and Manchester United certainly capable of doing so.

Arsenal are, however, reportedly particularly interested in the Hammers captain [Fabrizio Romano].
