Bruno Guimaraes sends message to West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta as injury update shared

Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has sent a message to West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta on Instagram after he shared that he is feeling a lot “less pain” on his shoulder.

The Brazilian midfielder picked up a shoulder injury during the 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Saturday (11 February) and could miss the London derby clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (19 February).

Fellow compatriot, Guimaraes, has sent him a message on Instagram saying – “Thank God, brother”.

“Passing by to thank everyone’s messages, one more scare, the same shoulder as before just other ligaments, but at least the worst of the problems!! Been feeling a lot less pain and I’m recovering well hopefully be back soon,” wrote Paqueta on Instagram.

“Thank god brother,” said Guimaraes.

Worry

It looks likely that Paqueta could miss the game against Spurs this weekend.

The Brazilian midfielder joined in the summer transfer window on a club-record fee and has only shown flashes of brilliance thus far.

He has taken time to adjust to the pace of the league. However, he has looked a class apart in recent games after David Moyes made changes to his system.

Instead of using him as an attacking midfielder, Paqueta has been deployed as a deep-lying central midfielder alongside Declan Rice. This has brought the best out of him, and it is no coincidence that the Hammers have improved in recent games as well.

West Ham

He missed a chunk of actions earlier this season with a shoulder injury, and let’s hope that the 25-year-old midfielder can return quickly.

Moyes probably will replace him with Tomas Soucek in midfield. Soucek was involved in a handball controversy against the Blues last season.
