Brazilian media reacts to ‘enthusiatic’ Lucas Paqueta scenes away from West Ham

Lucas Paqueta has had a mixed start to the campaign with West Ham.

Paqueta scored a stunning goal in West Ham’s 5-1 loss to Chelsea, but he has struggled to impact games for the Hammers this season.

The West Ham ace was involved in a controversial incident in the draw with Everton, when he went down clutching his face after being hit in the stomach by Vitalii Mykolenko.

He will hope to impress Nuno Espirito Santo in the coming weeks, as the new boss makes his long-term plans for his London Stadium side.

Lucas Paqueta draws mixed reaction after Brazil hammer South Korea

Paqueta is one of several West Ham stars who are away on international duty, and his Brazil side smashed South Korea 5-0 on 10 October.

Paqueta was involved in the final goal, playing a role in the build-up for Vinicius Junior’s strike, after coming on as a 70th-minute substitute for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Brazilian outlet GZH gave the Irons ace a six out of 10 rating, saying: “He came on to play a more attacking role, but created little.”

Meanwhile, Amazonas Atual were full of praise for Paqueta, saying: “Paquetá came on with enthusiasm and demonstrated grit by stealing the ball that started the fifth goal.”

Nuno Espirito Santo needs Paqueta to find his form for West Ham

His form with the national team will leave Nuno hoping that Paqueta can find the same form for his side when they return to action.

The Hammers currently sit in 19th place in the Premier League, and the Portuguese boss will rely on the Brazilian’s creative magic to get them out of the situation

Paqueta has had his form affected by the lengthy FA investigation into betting charges, but now that he has been found innocent, he can kick on without that weight hanging over him.

He does not have any excuse not to perform now after the hearings’ conclusion, and Nuno and Co need him to be back at his best when he returns to East London.
