Bournemouth make Dominic Solanke transfer decision amid West Ham United development

West Ham have let their intentions to sign Dominic Solanke be known but Bournemouth are set to thwart any offers that may come in for the striker, according to talkSPORT.

The news outlet revealed on its website on Friday (24 November) that, despite the Hammers’ strong interest in former Chelsea and Liverpool forward Solanke, Bournemouth would rebuff any offers made for their top scorer.

With Michail Antonio potentially out for the long term with an injury, and Danny Ings yet to score a goal this season, David Moyes’s side have been linked with Solanke, Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike and Timo Werner of RB Leipzig.

The source of goals West Ham need?

The Bournemouth forward has already matched his best-ever scoring record in the Premier League with six. But the 26-year-old is so much more than just a source of goals, racking up seven assists last season as well as half a dozen goals.

With that in mind, it is easy to see why the Cherries are so protective over their striker. Bournemouth have managed to pick up just nine points so far this season, placing them four points above the relegation zone.

Having just signed a new four-year deal, it is more than likely that he will stay with his current club and fight for Premier League survival, whether he wants to or not.

Either way, West Ham are in need of a striker who can net 20+ goals a season, rather than the 12 goals that Solanke has managed over the past season and a half. But that is a current theme in East London, with the current Europa Conference League winners known for their poor choice of strikers.

For a striker with a height of 6ft 2in, Solanke has scored a relatively low number of headers. And with West Ham in the top 10 teams this season for the most crosses into the box, a forward who is just as lethal with his head as his feet would make sense.

In other West Ham news, a journalist has slammed a “hypocritical” Hammers player after a development this week.
