Bobby Zamora shocked by Declan Rice form at West Ham

Bobby Zamora admits to being shocked by what Declan Rice has achieved this far at West Ham, especially over the last two seasons.

Appearing live on talkSPORT, the former Hammers striker even went so far as to say that he’s underappreciated in the game.

While expressing his hopes that he stays put at the club for next season, Zamora believes that Rice will only get his recognition once he leaves the London Stadium and competes and trophies.

He said, “He’s shocked me. I don’t think he’s given the credit he’s due. He’s got unbelievable skill but he’ll get that credit when he wins trophies. I hope he stays for one more season.”

Needs to stay

Rice may be at West Ham, but he’s still getting the adulation that he deserves without being at a Champions League club.

A case can be made for him to walk into every playing eleven in Europe and strengthen them – that’s how good a player he is.

We do not understand the argument of winning trophies for players and even managers to get credit for what they’ve done.

Sure, Rice may want to play in the Champions League and win it and maybe the Premier League too, but that will not make him any better a player than he already is.

From what we’re hearing and seeing, there’s a very good chance that the Hammers fans have another year of the Englishman at the London Stadium.

After that, it’s anyone’s guess depending on where the Hammers finish.

If they surprise the world and finish in the top four, you can bet your house that he stays on for another season.
