Benrahma injury update as West Ham winger seen leaving Carrow Road on crutches

West Ham winger Said Benrahma was seen leaving Carrow Road on crutches after starring in a 4-0 win over Norwich.

Benrahma was replaced in the 76th minute by Nikola Vlasic after picking up an ankle injury.

It has later been confirmed by West Ham correspondent Roshane Thomas that Benrahma left the stadium on crutches.

Rohane tweeted: “Antonio (hip) and Dawson (calf) should be fine but Benrahma walked past the mixed zone on crutches.

“He was so good today, would be a shame if he doesn’t play again this season.”

With David Moyes’ side down to the bare bones and lacking squad depth, this injury couldn’t have come at a worse time.

The Irons have their sights set on sixth spot with Manchester United in stuttering form.

West Ham’s 4-0 victory over Norwich is the perfect reaction to the disappointment they faced in the Europa League in midweek.

The Hammers are currently three points behind Manchester United and have a far superior goal difference.

Moyes’ side also have a game in hand over United which effectively means their fate is in their own hands.

A return to the Europa League quickly after their loss to Eintracht Frankfurt would be reaffirm the clubs’ ambitions.

If West Ham want to be a Champions League club then European football must become a regular occurrence at the London Stadium.

Moyes and his side deserve something from this season.

If they miss out on Europe it will be a blow to the club’s ambitions for the coming seasons.
