Ben Johnson praises Michail Antonio after scoring for West Ham v Aston Villa
West Ham ace Ben Johnson has praised Michail Antonio for helping him score against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the young Hammers right-back claimed that Antonio told him against Manchester City to use his left foot more.
So, he listened to that advice and managed to score his first goal of the season in the first half against Aston Villa after Declan Rice found him with a pass.
He said: “The other day in the game [against City], I think I was just running with the ball and Mic said ‘use your left foot’. He said that at half-time, and I tried it in the game against City and just tried it again today.
“The space opened up, and it went in, so it was just a great feeling.”
Wise words from Antonio.
It is fantastic to hear that Antonio took time out to try and give advice to Johnson.
Clearly, the 31-year-old’s words are well respected in that dressing room, and Johnson took full advantage against Villa.
Considering that his left foot is his weaker one, this was a great finish that flashed past Emiliano Martinez in the Villa goal [Sky Sports YouTube].
You would have to say that Johnson’s goal was the least he has deserved after several excellent performances for the Irons over the last few weeks.

Now, the big question for Johnson is can he keep Vladimir Coufal out of the side in the long run?
The Czech right-back was on the bench yesterday, suggesting that he is fully fit again, but how can David Moyes drop Johnson at the moment?
The 21-year-old is turning in consistently excellent performances and is proving to be a real asset to the Irons at the moment.
