BBC senior sources reveal West Ham United verdict on David Moyes’ future

David Moyes finds himself under pressure at the London Stadium after his West Ham side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday.

West Ham suffered a third consecutive league defeat on Saturday, with James Maddison and Harvey Barnes both scoring to inflict the Hammers’ ninth defeat of the season.

As a result, Moyes’ side have now slumped to 16th in the table – just one point clear of the drop zone. The Scot is under huge pressure to turn things around in east London, but it seems the board are remaining patient.

According to BBC Sport, senior sources from West Ham have said that the board intend to stand by Moyes and help him turn things around.

It is understood that while they’re aware that summer signings haven’t lived up to expectations yet, they’re thrilled with the former Everton manager’s role in developing Declan Rice.

A rare showing of loyalty

Modern football managers don’t tend to benefit from loyalty at clubs, but it seems West Ham have afforded Moyes more time due to how successful he’s been for the club.

The World Cup break comes at a perfect time for Moyes and the squad to reset, with the London Stadium environment growing very toxic over the last few weeks.

Hopefully, a pause from games means fans at the next home game against Brentford on 30 December is full of energy and support for the team.

Fans are also likely to be treated to a few new players in January, Moyes’ summer signings haven’t quite gotten up and running, and there are definitely areas that need addressing when the window opens in the New Year.

Moyes will hope that the optimism and belief returns to the London Stadium after the break, as it will allow him a fresh start to change the club’s current trajectory.

It’s strange that West Ham have dominated in Europe but fallen so short domestically. but it seems Moyes will be given time to turn things around and hopefully break into the top half of the table.
