BBC pundit wowed by ‘sensational’ Jarrod Bowen for West Ham v Burnley
West Ham failed to take advantage of other teams’ failures yesterday as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Burnley at the London Stadium.
Wout Weghorst scored the game’s opening goal on 34 minutes, just moments after a very long injury delay for Clarets midfielder Ashley Westwood who collided awkwardly with Nikola Vlasic on the halfway line.
Tomas Soucek drew the Irons level with 15 minutes to go but there was another Irons ace who impressed BBC pundit Ray Houghton with a fantastic piece of individual brilliance.

Jarrod Bowen nearly had the Hammers ahead before Weghorst’s headed opener with a fizzing long-range effort that Burnley keeper Nick Pope had to tip round the post.
“That was absolutely sensational. Good play all round,” Houghton said. “Bowen’s shot hit with pace and curl and that is a brilliant save from Pope.”
Too indecisive
David Moyes will be furious at his team’s display in the final third in particular as far too often there was not enough clarity of thought.
A lot of attacks would either slow right down or fizzle out completely because of the match-winners at the top of the pitch taking too long to make their decisions.

The Hammers constantly struggled to find a way to break through the stubborn Clarets defence that rather embodied the spirit of their recently sacked manager Sean Dyche.
It wasn’t really new manager bounce for Burnley with a largely similar side and system selected by the interim coaching team but instead a lack of ideas in the final third from the home side.
With Tottenham and Arsenal both losing yesterday, the Irons missed a golden opportunity to put themselves right back into the conversation for the top-four and now have to focus all their attention on the Europa League if they want to play Champions League football next season.
In other West Ham news, there was another Hammer who impressed pundits against the Clarets after a “wonderful” driven pass.
