BBC pundit gushes over Declan Rice performance in West Ham United v Newcastle
Don Hutchison has been blown away by the performance of West Ham midfielder Declan Rice in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle.
The Hammers came from behind on Saturday, 4 February, to grab a point from their trip to St James’ Park.
Rice was once again the start of the show and anchored the West Ham midfield to near perfection as he kept the Newcastle players at bay.
Reacting to the video of Rice from the game, Hutchison, a BBC pundit said on Premier League Productions (06/02, 13:50), “Declan Rice for West Ham was magnificent again in this game. Just look how he wins the ball and then carries it forward.”
Some player
We do not remember the last time Rice put in a bad performance for the Hammers.
He’s been solid even though players around him have been underperforming and was once against a pick above the rest against Newcastle.
There’s a reason why Europe’s top sides are keen on signing him and he’s going to rake in a lot of money for the Hammers.

Fans will not want to see him leave but they know that his days at the London Stadium are numbered with a move to Arsenal or Chelsea likely to be on the cards.
He has been nothing but dedicated to the cause and has not once downed tools at West Ham, something David Moyes will commend him for.
Players often throw tantrums and skip training in order to get their desired move, but Rice has not let that affect his professionalism and his performances have continued to be top drawer.
