Athletic journalist: Only one factor can stop West Ham signing Tomas Soucek permanently
West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek is happy to finish the season with the Irons but would leave the club if they were relegated.
The Athletic have reported that the Czech Republic international is set to extend his loan at the London Stadium until the end of this season from Salvia Prague.
There is a current deal in place which would mean West Ham would pay a fee in the region of £15million to make his switch permanent.
It is suggested that Slavia Prague are not willing to lower their asking price despite the financial strain on clubs due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Soucek has settled nicely in London with his wife and child and is happy with his current life with the Hammers.
All things are pointing in the right direction to make this deal into a permanent one, all West Ham need to do is avoid relegation.
David Moyes will be keen to make Soucek’s move permanent, with the January signing adding much-needed strength alongside Declan Rice in midfield.
Just to show how impressive he has been since arriving, Moyes confirmed that after the clash with Manchester City, Soucek had run further than any player for the Hammers in a single game in the last six years.
The 25-year-old’s debut against Brighton was phenomenal, he managed to make five tackles as well as three interceptions and clearances – something Moyes will want Soucek to replicate each game [WhoScored].
It’s simple, stay up and West Ham will secure Soucek’s services, fingers crossed.
