Aston Villa quest to sign West Ham United defender Thilo Kehrer now in jeopardy
West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer is now unlikely to join Aston Villa as Sky Sports shared an update on 2 January.
The news outlet claimed that he was in advanced talks with AS Monaco and a loan until the end of the season is now on the cards.
AC Milan and Roma are also credited with interest while Sky Sports Austria had even mentioned Villa as potential suitors back in December.

Kehrer’s limited playing time at West Ham during the 2023/24 season, with just 19 minutes in the Premier League, has diminished his market value, making it challenging for the club to command a substantial transfer fee.
This lack of first-team action under manager David Moyes suggests that Kehrer is not part of the long-term plans at the London Stadium.
Given Kehrer’s status as a Germany international, the Hammers might have initially hoped for a decent fee, considering his market value.
However, the failure to agree a deal with Aston Villa and the subsequent loan talks with AS Monaco indicates that potential suitors were more inclined towards a short-term arrangement rather than a permanent transfer.
