Arsenal transfer news as Ibrahim Osman hijack verdict shared at West Ham United

Suggestions that Arsenal could hijack a January transfer for Nordsjaelland star Ibrahim Osman are untrue amid interest from West Ham and Brighton, according to Ben Jacobs.

The CBS journalist reported via X [31 January] that no January bid is expected to come from Emirates Stadium ahead of the transfer window deadline.

It is understood that a move to West Ham has fallen through due to the Danish club’s high demands, as per Florian Plettenberg. However, the winger is happy to wait until summer for a permanent move.

Unfortunate turn of events

It seemed like Osman’s move to London Stadium was all but official at one point, but it is clear now that West Ham are unlikely to land the player’s signature before the transfer window closes on 1 February.

Between failed moves for the Ghanaian and Al Ittihad’s Jota, David Moyes is back to square one with the attacking side of his squad, with the only loan signing so far being Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City.

The trio of preferred forwards, Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta are unstoppable when firing on all cylinders, although their absences in recent weeks have shown a real weakness in the team.

West Ham

Replacements of Pablo Fornals, Said Benrahma, Danny Ings and Maxwel Cornet have not been enough to continue West Ham’s brilliant form, with the Irons being knocked out of the FA Cup by Bristol City and without a win since December.

Osman would have offered Moyes a raw talent to mould and develop, bringing him off the bench as an impact substitute and allowing him to rest the more key players in easier matches, but it doesn’t look like that will happen.

In other West Ham news, a second permanent London Stadium exit is now on the cards before the transfer deadline.
