Anton Ferdinand urges Declan Rice to stay at West Ham

Anton Ferdinand has showered praise on West Ham midfielder Declan Rice on Rio Ferdinand Presents Five.

West Ham have jumped into the top four of the Premier League after beating London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 on Sunday.

Rice was outstanding once again, and Ferdinand was full of praise for the 22-year-old midfielder.

The England international has been linked away with a move to several heavyweight Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United, but Ferdinand feels that Rice should continue at the London club.

“Declan Rice, for me his attitudes and attributes are fantastic. For the hype that he is getting and all the talks around him potentially moving his level has gone up,” said Rice to Ferdinand Presents Five.

“They haven’t stayed the same. His levels have gone through the roof and that’s testament to him as a person. What I will say is that maybe moving ain’t always the best thing. The best thing is to stay put.”

Interesting scenario

Rice has recently suggested that he is fully focused on his job at West Ham and that rumours about his future have not affected his performance.

He has taken his game to a whole new level this season. The England midfielder is performing at a consistent level, and he is deservedly getting the accolades from all corners.

Rice has rejected two contract offers from West Ham, but David Moyes is pretty relaxed with his situation. He has a long-term contract at the club, and any potential suitors will have to pay more than £100 million to sign him.

The Hammers slapped a price tag of £100 million for Rice in the summer, but his price has definitely gone up after such a phenomenal start to the season.

If the Hammers finish within the top four this season, Rice can be persuaded to sign a new deal at the club, where he is expected to be given a massive pay-rise.

In other West Ham news, Jack Wilshere has predicted major Hammers exit, but reckons one goal would stop it.
