Andy Townsend gushes over 'Outstanding' Jarrod Bowen in West Ham v Manchester City

Andy Townsend has showered heaps of praise on Jarrod Bowen after he scored his second goal in the first half for West Ham against Manchester City.

Bowen scored both the goals in the first half giving the Hammers a healthy 2-0 lead. City pulled one back right after the break, from Jack Grealish.

An own goal from Vladimir Coufal allowed City to come back into the game and make it 2-2.

Townsend, who also works for Sky Sports, was heavily impressed with the movement from Bowen. He hailed him as a game-changer for the Hammers.

“Look at that. It’s an excellent piece of play from the young man. He has been outstanding. He is a game-changer,” said Townsend on Premier League world feed (15 May).

Bowen has been absolutely magnificent today.

He has been outstanding all season and showed his class against a quality side.

Moyes was spot on with his tactics. But this is Man City – Pep Guardiola’s Man City – we’re talking about.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead at the break, City have found a way to come back and restore parity.

In fact, they could have sealed all three points had Lukasz Fabianski not saved a penalty off Riyad Mahrez.

City were the better team overall, but the Hammers truly deserved something from this game.

With this result, the Hammers have once again secured European football for next season.

City are still favourites to win the title, but it’s not over yet. If they end up drawing on the final day, and Liverpool win their remaining two games, the title will shift to Merseyside.

This has been a high-intensity game, and the performance of Bowen and Michail Antonio has been praiseworthy.

In other West Ham news, the boss could do with offloading this ageing defender to make room for new arrivals.
