Andy Carroll sends six-word message after old West Ham United footage shared

Andy Carroll has reacted to a clip on social media on the eight-year anniversary of his West Ham hat-trick against Arsenal at the Boleyn Ground.

Tuesday 9 April marked eight years since the Premier League cult legend fired three efforts past David Ospina as the Hammers drew 3-3 against the Gunners at their old stadium.

Any clips of the Boleyn Ground will make fans reminisce of brilliant times, with West Ham now playing their football at the London Stadium, which is often criticised after the stadium move.

Reacting to West Ham’s official post via X on Tuesday (9 April), Carroll wrote: “Some great memories at this club.”

Love in the air between Andy Carroll and West Ham United

By no means was Carroll a prolific striker for the Hammers, scoring seven goals in 24 matches on loan from Newcastle United before earning a permanent move where he scored 27 times in 118 matches.

Despite this, the 35-year-old had a trick or two up his sleeve, leaving West Ham fans with some special memories, whether that be at the Boleyn Ground or the London Stadium.

One of the most incredible efforts that comes to mind is that overhead bicycle kick against Crystal Palace in 2017, helping the Hammers to a 3-0 Premier League victory.

Maybe to the surprise of some, Carroll is still playing football, now plying his trade in Ligue 2 with Amiens, scoring four goals in 30 appearances after leaving Reading in the summer of 2023.

The striker is unlikely to go down in the Premier League Hall of Fame, but Hammers fans will be thankful for his efforts during seven total years at the club, and especially the moments like his hat-trick against Arsenal.

Considering West Ham’s torrid striker selections over the years, there were far worse than Carroll when it comes to goalscorers.
