Alvin Martin: West Ham next trophy is around the corner
Alvin Martin has suggested that it won’t be long before West Ham can end their trophy drought.
The Hammers last won a major trophy in 1980 when they defeated Arsenal 1-0 in the FA Cup clash at Wembley.
They reached the FA Cup final in 2006 where they got beaten on penalties by Liverpool after an all-action tie.

Martin feels that David Moyes has assembled a solid squad and it will be a “big deal” when the next trophy will come at the club.
He strongly feels the next trophy is “around the corner” and that it will have huge significance on the club’s future.
“Our club has been associated with the FA Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup,” Martin told the Evening Standard.
“We won the FA Cup five years after we won it in ’75. The fact we’ve had to wait so long for the next one, and it will happen, that will make it such a big deal.
“I think that the first trophy we win with this group, and it is around the corner, will have huge significance and could set them on the path to greatness.”
Big deal
It will indeed be a ‘big deal’ for the club if and when they need their next trophy. The fans have waited a long time, but David Moyes can break the jinx.
Moyes has done a remarkable job at the club. He took charge at West Ham when the club was heading in no direction.
He steadied the ship and gradually made them a competitive force.
Last season, the Hammers narrowly missed out on a top-four spot, but this time they have a strong chance of getting in there.

The Hammers will play in the knock-out rounds of the Europa League, and they will be looking to progress at least to the quarter-final stages.
However, the FA Cup remains their best bet to land silverware this season.
West Ham will face Northern League North side Kidderminster Harriers in the fourth round on Saturday (05 February), but the Hammers are unlikely to take them lightly.
