Ally McCoist stunned live on talkSPORT as Ray Parlour discusses West Ham United final-day showdown v Leicester City

TalkSPORT pundit Ray Parlour believes the last matchday of the Premier League season could be “brilliant”, as West Ham United and their relegation rivals Leicester City go toe-to-toe.

The race for Premier League survival is hotting up as the league undergoes an international break, with all of around nine teams currently steeped down at the bottom with just four points separating 12th from 20th in the table.

The Hammers currently sit in the relegation zone in 18th and face a last-day trip to relegation rivals Leicester City at the King Power and Parlour believes the set of fixtures down at the bottom is set up nicely for a “brilliant” finish, which left Ally McCoist particularly stunned.

West Ham

“Quickly, the last game of the season, it could come down to that,” he said on talkSPORT. [09:53]

“Forest, away to Palace, Bournemouth away to Everton which they could be in a relegation battle as well, and Leicester have got West Ham at home – they could be a brilliant last game of the season.”

McCoist said: “Incredible.”

Set up nicely

This may well be the most exciting and enthralling Premier League relegation battle we’ve had throughout the history of the division, even topping the drama we had last year.

The fact that clubs such as Everton, West Ham United, and Leicester City are currently down at the bottom just goes to show how difficult this league is and the fact that any big or small club cannot take any of their 38 games for granted.

West Ham

No one is immune to such pressures and disaster and no one would have thought both the Hammers and Leicester would have been down at the bottom at this stage of the season after their successes in recent years. Leicester v West Ham on the last day is certainly going to have a huge amount of eyes on it with both teams in danger of going down.

However, David Moyes and his team will be hoping and ensuring that his team have steered well clear of the drop zone before then. We are indeed set for a nerve-racking and enthralling end to the 2022/23 campaign. Fasten your seatbelts.
