Ally McCoist slams West Ham star Vladimir Coufal for Czech Republic v Holland

West Ham United stars Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek were both back in action this afternoon as the Czech Republic faced Holland.

It was an action-packed afternoon, with Mathijs De Ligt being sent off and then the Czechs famously reaching the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win.

Coufal needed the space of facing 10-men, having struggled for the majority of the opening hour when in possession.

Ally McCoist singled that out during live coverage of the clash on ITV, claiming his distribution was nowhere near good enough.

“So poor from Coufal,” he said.

“If he’s going to lose it, you’ve got to make sure it’s in a better area.”

Poor?

There haven’t been many better than Coufal over the past year at bombing down the right and delivering deadly crosses.

Unfortunately, there weren’t many of those this afternoon, but the rest of his game was top class yet again when facing deadly opposition.

It was a game full of events, with the red card, but Soucek and Coufal were two of the players pushing their side forward.

Even with the 10-men opposition, it was the perfect performance from the Czechs, who defied the odds.

Coufal and his misplaced passes were instantly forgotten, and he could yet again meet England at the semi-final stage should both win their games.

It is brilliant to see our players doing so well on the biggest stage, and McCoist will no doubt go back to being a massive fan of the right-back despite his early mistakes.
