Ally McCoist makes Frank Lampard to West Ham United prediction as Julen Lopetegui struggles

Ally McCoist doesn’t believe Frank Lampard will replace Julen Lopetegui at West Ham United if the Spaniard is sacked.

The former Everton boss was mooted as a potential candidate to replace Lopetegui at the London Stadium by Richard Keys recently.

Speaking on talkSPORT [5 November, 8:57], Jeff Stelling questioned whether the London Stadium faithful would take Lampard at the helm, but McCoist doesn’t see it happening right now.

“Nowadays, nothing’s completely out of the question,” he said. “I would say the chances of it happening are very, very slim.

“I would think there’s a greater possibility of Frank going abroad.”

West Ham United to sack Julen Lopetegui?

Lopetegui’s arrival at West Ham was met with excitement by many fans as David Moyes departed the club in the summer.

Under the Scotsman, the Hammers approached most games with pragmatism, with European success returning as they lifted the UEFA Conference League.

But the London Stadium faithful didn’t appreciate Moyes’ approach to games, and a change was inevitable in the end.

Lopetegui has tried to bring in a new style of play at West Ham and tried to change it up against Nottingham Forest on 3 November, playing a back three, but the plan backfired miserably as the Irons lost 3-0.

The defeat at City Ground should’ve been the final straw for the Hammers’ hierarchy, and it’s confusing to see David Sullivan stick by the Spaniard, who has shown no signs of improving the team despite the massive investment made in signing top talent in the summer.

Lampard isn’t the most alluring name regarding managerial status, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a change needed in the coming weeks.
