Ally McCoist disappointed to see Kurt Zouma start for West Ham
Ally McCoist was surprised and disappointed by David Moyes’ decision to start Kurt Zouma for the West Ham v Watford clash on Tuesday.
Little under 24 hours before the game, a video surfaced on social media showing Zouma kicking his cat.
This led to plenty of outrage from the football community at large and there were calls to suspend the Frenchman.
But, he was named in the playing eleven by the Hammers boss – a decision that did not sit well with McCoist.
Speaking live on talkSPORT, he said, “I was surprised and disappointed, to be honest, guys.
“Whether you like it or not, money talks with top four places up for grabs.
“It’s the sad reality of it but I have to say I was disappointed when I saw him in the starting lineup.”
Read the room
Last night was a classic failure from Moyes and West Ham to read the room.
The backlash Zouma faced was not just from rival fans but a number of Hammers fans were also left extremely disappointed by it.
His statement which was released in the aftermath of it also did little to allay the anger from fans.

What West Ham should have done was dropped him for a game or two and dock him a month’s salary.
This would not just set the precedent for the other players at the club but also for other professionals in the game.
Hopefully, they take retrospective action quickly as they’re already being slandered by pundits and fans alike.
