Alex Crook slams officials over missed Jarrod Bowen incident in West Ham United loss v Liverpool
West Ham should have been given a penalty in their Premier League defeat to Liverpool, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.
Crook has suggested there is a lack of inconsistency among officials after they missed a supposed foul on Jarrod Bowen on Sunday (24 September).
Bowen went down in the area in the first half of the match following a tackle from Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

“There was a big moment in terms of officials,” Crook said on the Premier League All Access Podcast on talkSPORT. “Jarrod Bowen, I think that’s a penalty.
“I think the inconsistency is concerning, because we’ve seen VAR checks, we’ve seen penalties given for those kinds of incidents, so I’d love to know why the PGMOL deemed that wasn’t a penalty. There was enough contact for me.”

Wrong decision?
It is, of course, far too late for anyone to do anything about the decision now, but West Ham and their supporters may just be thinking about it for quite some time.
That is because they were definitely in the game in the early stages at Anfield, with the clubs heading down the tunnel at half time with the scores level at 1-1. The hosts scored a penalty of their own through Mohamed Salah, with Bowen equalising with a fine header.
But Jurgen Klopp’s men turned on the charm in the second half, with goals from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota securing all three points for the Merseyside outfit.
Things could have been very different if the officials did award the travelling side an early penalty, but they will have to settle for defeat, which leaves them seventh in the Premier League table. Liverpool meanwhile are up to second, with five wins and one draw from their first six matches.
