Alex Crook baffled by West Ham United fan stance on David Moyes as he clashes with caller live on talkSPORT

talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook clashed with a West Ham fan live on air after it was suggested that the club should part company with David Moyes despite their success so far this season.

Crook was baffled by the claim, questioning what the fans actually want from their manager if they are unhappy having topped their Europa League group with a chance to go on and win the competition.

He pointed to the Hammers’ time under Sam Allardyce where he earned them promotion from the Championship and fans still complained about the style of play, with similarities drawn to the situation with Moyes.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [28 December, 10:55], Crook ranted: “Well you might win the Europa League, you’re in the last 16, and you topped your group. I’m just wondering, are West Ham fans just too difficult to please?

“I remember when Sam Allardyce was there and he got you out of the Championship into the Premier League and his football wasn’t good enough. What exactly do you want from your team?”

Moyes deserves far more respect

After everything the boss has done during his time in East London, he deserves far more respect from West Ham fans than for them to call for his head, especially given the run of form the Hammers are currently on that should not warrant this kind of reaction.

Crook is right when he suggests some fans just can’t be pleased. Despite winning games consistently, finishing 6th, 7th, 14th, and now sitting 6th again, and having won European silverware, complaints about the style of play continue to flood in.

Surely playing a slightly uglier brand of football that has proven to get the best out of the team would be better than playing flashy pretty football that doesn’t result in the same outcome?

Moyes deserves far more respect than he is given, and should the Hammers decide to part company with him in the summer, they must remember that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and that should be their main concern.

In other West Ham news, Ally McCost has also hit out at Moyes sack calls.
