Alan Shearer wowed by MOTD footage of one West Ham star in win vs Burnley: ‘Fantastic’

West Ham United boosted their chances of Premier League survival with a victory against fellow relegation battlers Burnley at Turf Moor.

Goals from Crysencio Summerville and Taty Catellanos helped West Ham to a 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have now won four of their last five games across all competitions, and have recovered some form at the perfect time in the relegation battle.

The Hammers are now just three points adrift of 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, and they are quickly closing the gap to Sean Dyche’s side.

Alan Shearer loves what Crysencio Summerville did vs Burnley

The Hammers took the lead after just 13 minutes at Turf Moor, their fifth successive Premier League game in which they’ve found an early goal.

Mateus Fernandes won the ball on the halfway line, driving into the Burnley half before sliding a pass through to Summerville.

The 24-year-old winger was faced with an onrushing Martin Dubravka, but superbly dinked the ball over the Slovakian keeper and into the back of the net.

Speaking on BBC Match of the Day, former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer picked out Summerville as one of the Hammers’ most important players.

When asked about how West Ham have turned the situation around in recent weeks, he replied: “I think there has been a huge shift in attitude. One month ago, I thought they were gone.

“Today, it was good old-fashioned 4-4-2 if you like, and they (West Ham) were always positive. The first thought was always, can we go forward?

“He was a huge part of that, Summerville. Another goal today, and it was a fantastic finish.”

Crysencio Summerville can keep West Ham up

Ever since they were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest at the start of January, West Ham have looked a completely different team.

Wins over QPR in the FA Cup and Tottenham in the Premier League filled Nuno’s side with confidence, and they are now one of the form sides in the top flight.

Summerville has been the one to spark that turnaround, scoring five goals in his last five games, as well as picking up one assist.

If the former Leeds United man can continue this run of form for the rest of the season, then the East London side will have a superb chance of avoiding Premier League relegation.

The Hammers face Manchester United on Tuesday in another crucial top-flight game, with the Red Devils themselves on a good run of form.

Michael Carrick’s side have won four matches in a row, but West Ham will believe that they can pull off an unlikely result at London Stadium.
