Alan Shearer warns Gary Lineker he’ll anger every fan after what he’s said about West Ham player
West Ham’s fallout from the transfer window has already begun as supporters show their dissatisfaction.
United made just one signing on deadline day, with Igor Julio electing to join West Ham instead of heading to Crystal Palace.
There was hope that the Hammers would make a couple of signings on the final day, with Axel Disasi among the other names linked with West Ham.
However, Graham Potter’s side had a rather quiet end to the transfer window, but they will have been pleased to have fended off interest for one player in particular.

Gary Lineker thought Jarrod Bowen would attract attention this summer
West Ham solved their problems in midfield by signing Mateus Fernandes and Soungoutou Magassa.
Nayef Aguerd’s late departure to Marseille left a hole in defence that was eventually filled by Igor.
Supporters won’t be happy that they have to put up with Niclas Fullkrug up front after they failed to find a replacement.
Equally, they will be pleased to keep hold of star forward Jarrod Bowen with plenty of interest expected over the summer.
Speaking on deadline day on The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker said: “No disrespect to West Ham at all, but I just wondered whether [Bowen] would be a player who might attract attention, but it’s one of those, and he’s probably knocking on his late 20s now.”
- Bowen scored 13 goals in 34 Premier League appearances last season
- The winger scored more than 25 per cent of West Ham’s goals last season
- In 242 West Ham appearances, he has scored 75 goals, and assisted 52
Alan Shearer replied: “I can feel in hear the West Ham fans going mad at you at this moment in time. They’ll be listening to this and they will be hammering you.”
Lineker added ahead of the deadline: “No, I hope he stays. He seems like one of those who loves playing for that football club. Have I made up Hammers fans?”
West Ham could well be involved in relegation battle this season
David Sullivan put on a façade that he was trying to sign new recruits by submitting plenty of pointless bids that were never going to get anywhere.
West Ham’s loan bid for Charlie Cresswell was never going to bear fruit, and multiple silly bids for midfielders prior to the deadline were also useless.
The Hammers could easily get dragged into a relegation battle, with others having much better transfer windows than the Irons.
With a manager that’s yet to prove himself in East London, and players who have looked uncertain, it is looking as though it is going to be a long season ahead.
