Alan Shearer thrilled by West Ham midfielder Declan Rice

Alan Shearer has been left blown away by West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice this season in the Premier League.

The England international has been nominated for the Young Player of the Season award after yet another standout campaign.

It was made the perfect Tuesday too, as the Irons skipper was called up to represent the Three Lions at the upcoming European Championships.

West Ham

Speaking on the Premier League’s official Twitter account, Shearer

“Another youngster who’s had a strong year in the capital is Declan Rice,” he said.

“He’s become the new leader at West Ham, and the anchor in their midfield. Rice’s game feeds off blocks and interceptions, but he’s also a good ball-carrier and has excellent discipline.”

Untouchable.

Rice has been sensational yet again.

Mark Noble has well and truly passed the torch on, and his apprentice has become the master, and dare we say it, even better.

The enforcer is set to star for England and the upcoming EUROs too, and his stock is only going to rise as he hopes to take the Three Lions to glory.

No one expected the Irons to reach the Europa League next season, but it is happening, and while the likes of Tomas Soucek and Jesse Lingard take the headlines, Rice continues to shine.

Shearer has rightly covered him in praise, and what is frightening for others is that he is only going to get better the more he shines in the Premier League, and now in Europe.
