Alan Shearer shares why he’s ‘really worried’ after West Ham United loss v Nottingham Forest
Alan Shearer has admitted he’d be “really worried” if he was a West Ham United fan given the way they once again folded in the 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The Hammers were coming off the back of a stellar 2-1 win over Manchester United just the week before and were expected to put on a decent showing but, instead, they turned back to their old ways and now find themselves 14th in the Premier League.
Speaking on The Rest is Football Podcast (4 November), Shearer shared his verdict on the Hammers’ recent performances.
“I would be really worried if I was a West Ham fan,“ he said.
“It doesn’t look well there does it at West Ham? I mean, they were fortunate last week to beat Manchester United.
“They should have been 5-0 down at half-time and the sending off yesterday and the way they folded, it’s worrying times there it doesn’t look good for me at West Ham.”
Julen Lopetegui needs his West Ham United team to pick up their form
While there has been the odd positive result for the Hammers this season, such as their 2-1 win over the Red Devils, Julen Lopetegui’s men have more often than not left a lot to be desired in terms of their performances.
Jarrod Bowen is the only exception to this rule as the attacker has arguably been West Ham’s best player this season.
The Hammers may have a decent cushion between themselves and the relegation zone for now, but it is the European places the club should be looking at.

Despite being 14th, they’re still well in the Premier League relegation battle and could find themselves dragged lower in the top-flight table if they don’t manage to get their act together soon.
And, unless things do turn around soon, it’s hard to see how David Sullivan can keep the Spaniard at the helm for much longer, especially if he continues losing by such large margins every other week.
In other West Ham news, Julen Lopetegui may choose to give Lewis Orford a run in the team after what Edson Alvarez did.
