Alan Shearer shares ‘massive’ West Ham United verdict on David Moyes after sack decision
Alan Shearer believes that West Ham executives were vindicated in their decision to keep the faith with David Moyes following the important win over Fulham on Saturday.
The 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage relieved the pressure on the Scotsman, thanks to a first-half own goal from Harrison Reed.
Following the disastrous loss to Newcastle United at the London Stadium last Wednesday, Moyes acknowledged his fragile position with the need to get a result against Fulham.

Speaking on Match of the Day on Saturday night (8 April, 1hr27m25s), Shearer said: “There were a lot of people expecting David Moyes to lose his job but in fairness, they’ve stuck with him and they’ve got the right result.
“They’ve had to work hard for it but he made the changes and it worked.
“Three massive points.”
Gary Lineker then said: “It is interesting, isn’t it, sticking with managers. Everyone panics, don’t they? 14 managers have gone this season.”
Danny Murphy replied: “I think especially with someone of David’s experience and know-how, it was a no-brainer for me.”

Moyes wins the battle but not the war, yet.
With nine clubs currently battling to avoid the drop, there will be plenty of twists and turns before the end of the season.
West Ham are one of few clubs, in the mire, who have held the line and by giving Moyes time, they will aim to benefit from the stability that will provide. The vastly experienced manager will believe that he can steer his side to safety but the bottom line is results. Eight games remain in the league campaign whilst the Hammers also have the Europa Conference League on their schedule.
With just three points between West Ham and the relegation places, they will face tough tests against Liverpool and Arsenal within the next three Premier League games. That won’t stop the need to pick up points so the pressure will remain on David Moyes who won the battle this weekend, but not the war. Not yet anyway.
