Alan Shearer makes relegation prediction: ‘I can hear the West Ham fans screaming at me now’
West Ham got back to winning ways this weekend, beating Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor.
Goals from Crysencio Summerville and January signing Taty Castellanos sealed all three points for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side as they brought the gap to safety down to just three points.
West Ham have won three of their last four Premier League matches, ahead of crucial fixtures against Manchester United and Bournemouth at the London Stadium.
While they have to rely on results elsewhere going in their favour, the Hammers can now sniff the safety line after a severely underpar campaign.
Though, Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer has made a bold prediction when it comes to the club’s future in the top-flight.
Alan Shearer speaks on West Ham relegation nightmare
Just six points now separate West Ham in 18th, and London rivals Tottenham in 14th, with the Hammers’ win against their rivals in January kickstarting the current positive run of form that has seen three of their six wins arrive across four matches.
With Burnley and Wolves cut adrift, the race to avoid the final spot in the drop zone could go down to the wire.

When asked to give a verdict, Shearer said: “West Ham, I still think. If you were to ask me, I think West Ham [will get relegated].
The Hammers have given themselves a fighting chance after their run of results, though their fate is still not in their own hands, with Nuno’s side relying on the form of his old club, Nottingham Forest.
“I can hear the West Ham fans screaming at me now,” added Shearer.

West Ham have to pile the pressure on Nottingham Forest
Heading into the season’s crunch point, West Ham simply have to put as much pressure on Nottingham Forest as possible.
The Garibaldi secured a 2-1 win at the London Stadium in January, eliminating one escape pathway for West Ham. Though Sean Dyche’s side have won just once in their last four top-flight outings, before they host bottom-dwellers Wolves in midweek.
Forest’s European campaign also has to be factored in, with a Europa League round of 16 play-off against Fenerbahce coming up.
With four matches coming up in the space of just over two weeks for the East Midlands outfit, West Ham simply must pile on the pressure and carry their own destiny for the first time this season.
